Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome can vary, but commonly include:

• Tingling or “pins and needles” in the thumb, index, middle or ring fingers
• Numbness in the affected fingers, especially at night
• Weakness or clumsiness when gripping objects.
• Pain or discomfort in the wrist or hand
• A sensation of swelling in the fingers (even without visible swelling)
• Difficulty with precise hand movements

Symptoms often worsen with repetitive hand or wrist use and may improve temporarily with shaking or “flicking” the hand.
