Specialist diagnosis and treatment for Dupuytren’s Disease, helping improve hand function and reduce finger contracture.

Dupuytren’s Disease is a progressive condition affecting the connective tissue beneath the skin of the palm and fingers. Over time, tight bands of tissue can form, pulling the fingers inward toward the palm and limiting your ability to straighten them fully. While the condition develops slowly, it can interfere with everyday activities such as gripping, writing or handling objects.

At The Coriel Clinic, our consultant-led specialists provide expert diagnosis and tailored treatment plans designed to halt progression, relieve symptoms and restore hand function. We focus on evidence-based care and personalised support to help you manage the condition with confidence.

What Are the Symptoms of Dupuytren’s Disease?

Symptoms of Dupuytren’s Disease typically develop gradually and may include:

  • Thickening of the palm’s skin, often near the base of the fingers
  • Small lumps or nodules under the skin of the palm
  • Tight bands of tissue (cords) forming beneath the surface.
  • Fingers gradually bending inward toward the palm.
  • Difficulty straightening one or more fingers.
  • Reduced hand function or discomfort when using the hand.

Symptoms often start subtly and progress slowly, but as the condition advances it can significantly affect grip strength and daily tasks.

What Treatments Are Available for Dupuytren’s Disease?

Treatment for Dupuytren’s Disease depends on symptom severity, functional impact and your individual needs. At The Coriel Clinic, we provide personalised, consultant-led care with both non-surgical and surgical options where appropriate.

Non-surgical treatments may include:

  • Needle aponeurotomy – a minimally invasive technique to release tight cords.
  • Enzyme injections – to soften and break down the contracted tissue.

These options aim to improve finger mobility and delay progression, particularly in earlier or moderate cases.

Surgical treatment may be recommended for more advanced or functionally limiting disease. Surgical approaches focus on releasing or removing the thickened tissue to improve straightening of the affected fingers. Your consultant will discuss all approaches in detail, including expected benefits, possible risks, and recovery guidance, so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Our goal is to restore function, relieve symptoms and support long-term hand health with expert guidance and continuity of care.
