Advanced treatment for cubital tunnel syndrome, helping reduce nerve irritation and restore normal arm and hand function.

Cubital tunnel syndrome is a condition that occurs when the ulnar nerve — which runs behind the inside of the elbow — becomes compressed or irritated as it passes through the cubital tunnel. This can lead to discomfort, altered sensation and weakness in the arm and hand. Cubital tunnel syndrome is sometimes called “ulnar nerve entrapment” and is the second most common nerve compression disorder in the upper limb after carpal tunnel syndrome.

At The Coriel Clinic, our consultant-led specialists provide accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plans designed to relieve symptoms, protect nerve function and support your return to comfortable everyday movement.

What Are the Symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome?

Symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome can vary in intensity and may include:

  • Numbness or tingling in the ring and little fingers.
  • Weakness in the hand, especially with gripping or pinching
  • Pain or discomfort on the inside of the elbow
  • A sensation of “electric shocks” down the forearm or into the hand
  • Hand clumsiness or difficulty with fine tasks (e.g., typing, buttoning)
  • Muscle wasting in severe or longstanding cases.

Symptoms often develop gradually and may worsen with prolonged elbow bending (such as holding a phone) or resting the elbow on hard surfaces.

What Treatments Are Available for Cubital Tunnel Syndrome?

Treatment for cubital tunnel syndrome depends on symptom severity, nerve involvement and how much the condition affects daily activities. At The Coriel Clinic, we provide personalised, consultant-led care with both non-surgical and surgical options when appropriate.

Non-Surgical Treatments

Many patients benefit from conservative management, which may include:

  • Activity modification to avoid sustained elbow bending and pressure.
  • Ergonomic and movement advice to reduce nerve strain.
  • Splints or braces to keep the elbow in a neutral position during activity or sleep.
  • Targeted physiotherapy to improve muscle balance and nerve mobility.
  • Anti-inflammatory measures to reduce pain and irritation.

These approaches aim to relieve symptoms, protect nerve function and improve arm comfort.

Surgical Treatment

When symptoms are persistent, progressive or significantly impact function despite conservative care, surgical intervention may be recommended. Surgical options often involve relieving pressure on the ulnar nerve by releasing or relocating it to a less constricted position.

Your consultant will discuss all suitable options in detail, including expected benefits, risks and recovery expectations, so you can make an informed decision about your care.

At The Coriel Clinic, our goal is to help you achieve lasting symptom relief, improved hand and arm function, and confidence in your everyday movements with expert support throughout your treatment journey.
