Shoulder and Elbow Specialist

Mr Scott MacInnes BSc MBChB PhD FRCS (Tr&Orth) is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in shoulder and elbow conditions. He is an NHS consultant at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals and brings extensive subspecialist and academic expertise to his clinical practice.

Mr MacInnes grew up in Stirling and studied medicine at the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester, graduating in 2003. After completing basic surgical training in the North West of England, he undertook higher surgical training in South Yorkshire. He later completed two specialist fellowships in Perth, Western Australia, working with internationally renowned shoulder and elbow surgeons and gaining experience in complex upper limb trauma, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and advanced open techniques.

He has a strong academic background and was awarded a PhD by the University of Sheffield for research into the genetic contribution to failure of orthopaedic joint replacements. His work has been widely published and presented internationally, earning multiple awards including the prestigious Otto Aufranc Award. Mr MacInnes remains actively involved in research and surgical training and sees patients at The Coriel Clinic and Park Hill Hospital.
